Sand Valley Holes 1-3

Wedgewood Cup XV travels to Wisconsin in a mere 10 weeks.  We’ll be breaking down the courses here hole-by-hole and today we start with holes 1-3 at Sand Valley.

The first hole is a short par 4 and we will be playing the orange tee box here at 325 yards.  The hole doglegs back to the left but a tee shot of 224 yards will give you a pitching wedge into the green.  Lots of bunkering along the left side.  The green is elevated.

Below is the view from the tee box on the 1st.

Hole 2 is another short par 4.  We will be playing from the sand tees at 369 yards.  The green is not visible from the tee and this is a dogleg right with the approach being a blind shot.  Your tee shot target is just right of the crane in the background in the photo below.

Here’s what your approach shot looks like to the green.  And you don’t want to be long as the green drops severely off the back.

Hole 3 is a par 3 and 168 yards from the orange tees.  Here’s a look from the tee box.

You’ll want to favor the right side of the green as the bunkers go up to the left edge of the green.

Just don’t miss the green way right as this will be the view to the green from down the hill.

Our 2 man Best Ball will kick off things on this course.  As you can tell from the first three holes tee placement is critical.  Looking forward to next week when we cover holes 4-7 here at Sand Valley.
