Traveling to the middle of Wisconsin should not be that difficult. Four of us made it to Mequon, WI with no real issues, the first stop and home to one of our buddies Jay Hughes. The other four had flight delays at first due to weather and tornadoes around DFW airport. We spent the first few hours at Beer Union at the DFW airport.

Finally our flight was canceled and we got re-booked on a flight to Chicago, but the luggage and clubs did not make the flight. Flight was canceled due to (1) flight attendant not showing up……Grrrrr
So without clubs and bags we head over to terminal D to finally take off for Chicago at 11:15 pm.

We were told our bags and clubs would be on the first flight out in the morning to Milwaukee. And then we believed them.
Got to Chicago at 1:30 a.m. Gate agent sends us confirmation emails saying we have hotel accommodations at Hawthorne Suites 20 min away. Plan was to wake up early, catch Uber to Milwaukee, and pick up clubs/ bags first thing in the morning.

We get to hotel and they don’t have our reservation. So now we are just beat down and get back on the phone with American Airlines.

Finally get to sleep around 3:30 for a 7:30 wake up call. Let the waiting for bags begin. We get to Milwaukee and the first flight does have our luggage but no clubs. We get our luggage and head out to Jay’s to see what’s in store for the next flight. Plan now is to scrape the first round at Sand Valley and play and Jay’s club this after noon with rentals.
We arrived at Jay’s home club Ozaukee Country Club in Mequon, WI with minutes before our tee time.
It was the Feather Merchants vs Wisconsin Warrior in 4 Man- Krewe format.

No time for group photos as Round 1 was underway. It was a late afternoon brawl with the sun hanging heavy in the sky. The Warriors would come up victorious with a -9 under par round. Next we pack up and make the 2.5 hour drive to Nekoosa, WI.

Friday morning would be Best Ball Round and our 1st introduction to Sand Valley welcomed by no other than Clark (head Mr Welcome Committee)

An 8:40 tee time on Sand Valley followed by a 2:45 tee time on Mammoth Dunes we head to the range to get loose, then get on the shuttle and up to the first tee where we are met by our starter (and now we have quite the collection of starters)

Caddy Craig with his years of experience keeps us going in the right direction all morning long.

The sun sets on Day 1 at Sand Valley and we grab a bit before we head back to our house.

After our 2nd day of play and (3) rounds complete here’s how the leaderboard shaped up.

An early bedtime ensued.
With an early morning tee time on the final day at 6:45 am at Mammoth Dunes we headed to the course and skipped the range.

Storms threatened our early morning round and we got off the first hole when the blaring horn sounded to come back to the clubhouse. We spent the next 1.5 hours waiting for the rain to pass before we could resume our round. Had a few minutes to reflect while wondering what the day would entail.

Mammoth Dunes giveth and Mammoth Dunes take it away.

Scoreboard after the ALT shot and 4th round.

TK got going on the final day…..dropped a hole out from 125 yards on #11 of Sand Valley.

After basically 50 miles of walking over the course of 3 days the competition was coming to a close. The lead off group had a few minutes to reflect on what was a great WWC XV from the top of the Sand Valley course while watching the final group come down the stretch.

It was time to head back to the house, cook a champions dinner of steak, potatoes, and asparagus. Then we awarded the Cup to KARL JONES with a winning score of 18 total points. Congrats to KJ on his 2nd WEDGEWOOD CUP win!!! It’s been 9 years since his last win and what a great place to accomplish this. Sand Valley didn’t disappoint and has to be one of the greatest golf destinations we’ve experienced. A big shout out goes to Jay Hughes for hosting our group in Wisconsin and pulling together some last minute executions!!

Well done Chuck! Captured it well and glad that the Wedgewood Cup had a chance to experience a little Wisconsin golf.
